Jaime & Darrin: Your Mom was one of a kind. Working with her was a pleasure and being her friend was a true gift. Opal didn’t do anything half way. If she agreed to do something she put her all into it. She cared deeply and had a heart as big as her passion for helping others. Working with her in our classroom and volunteering with her at school and for 4-H projects was truly a joy. I’ll never forget her and treasure every memory of her big blond hairdo, her over the top jewelry, her contagious laugh and her giving spirit. Rest well, Miss Opal.

To Opal's family, I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Opal. She was certainly an angel here on earth who has gained her eternal angel wings in heaven. I had to pleasure of working with Opal for many years in community volunteerism, & will never forget how good she made me feel, & how she touched the many people in Anderson County with the commitment of her big heart. She will be truly missed.

Darrin and Jamie I am so so sorry to hear of Opal's passing. She fought a good fight and never let things keep her from her church until lately. You know how special Howard and Opal were to me for many years. Your mother definitely had a servant's heart and fought it when she needed the help from others. She was strong willed in many ways. LOL Both good and bad but that was our Opal. I know why no services but hate I don't have the chance to tell you both in person all the stories and memories. Darrin you have your mother's artistic talent and she loved that about you. Jamie you have her personality but she always said you were your Dad made over. Darrin I hope you have the same fight in you as your mother did and wish you well with your health issues. Opal is now with Howard and Duane that she never got to raise. My heart is broken for you and will cherish the memories Opal and I made over the years, all the youth camps, youth trips, church activities, volleyball in the backyards, all the talks and conversations out at dinner, bible studies, all the softball games, high school ball games, hanging out with your parents with the Perkins, and I could go on and on and on as you both well know. Opal loved working with the kids at school, the people at the Senior Center, being a hospice volunteer, getting people to their drs appt or cancer treatments, she put I will never know how many miles on her car over many years. I love you Opal and will miss you dearly my friend.....

Where do you beging to memorialize a true true servant? Opal was a beautiful soul who always loved the needy, volunteered to help all who came in her path. For those who knew her they felt her love, her neverending acceptance of every human. She will be missed and we will see her little miracles she performed for Anderson County for years to come.
