Obituary of Forrest James Morris

Forrest James Morris, age 82, of Chaplin, KY, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at home. Mr. Morris was born November 18, 1933 in Chaplin, KY. He is the son of the late W.L. Morris and the late Francis Terrell Morris. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Frances Proffitt Morris. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children: three sons; Jimmy (Sharon) Morris-of Scottsville; Steve (Renee) Morris- of Lawrenceburg; Nathan (Connie) Morris- of Georgetown; one daughter: Rebecca (fiance-Wes Gilliam) Goff- of Bardstown. He also has 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Surviving brothers/sister: Raphael (Jewell) Morris-of Louisville; Rollin (Betty) Morris-of Shepherdsville; and Margaret (Carl-deceased) Richardson-of Versailles. Preceded in death: daughter-Rachel Rose Morris; grandson-Titus Morris; great-grandson Samuel Smith; sisters- Virginia Ozment, Priscillia Morris; brothers- William “Bill” Morris and Jasper Morris. He was a 1952 Graduate of Bloomfield High School in Nelson County. He taught Junior high school in Marion County and retired so he could return to farming in Chaplin. He preached and taught the gospel for 47 years at Caesarea, Willisburg, Harrodsburg, Lebanon and Highview Church of Christ. Visitation will be 12-8 pm on Monday, February 22, 2016 and preceding the service Tuesday, February 23rd from 9-11:00 am at Saffell House Funeral Home. The funeral will be held 11:00am on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Saffell House Funeral Home with Larry Morgan, David Lanius and Jim Hardy officiating. Burial will be at Chaplin-Highview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trey Morris, Mackenzie Morris, Josh Morris, Coby Goff, Robbie Baker, Aaron Baker, Josh Smith and Jad Morris. Honorary Bearers will be grand daughters and great grandchildren. Saffell House Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
