Obituary of Jonathan Auxford Bookout

Jonathan A. Bookout was born on April 13, 1958, in Birmingham, Alabama and passed away on November 18, 2022, in Lawrenceburg, KY. Many know him as Michael.

Jon was predeceased by his parents, Jonathan C. and Julia G Bookout. Those who will mourn his passing but cherish the memories include: his sister, Maria J. Olson (Terry); favorite” niece, Jamie B Abell (Jeremy); great nephew, Kai Abell; beloved cat, Susie; plus other relatives and many dear friends.

Jon enjoyed much of his life in Denton, TX, Stillwater OK, and Colorado Springs, CO. He attended Oklahoma State University and was an avid football fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys (Go Pokes!).

To quote his friend, Jon lived an original and incredible life, and left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.” Jon traveled through life with curiosity rather than judgment. He appreciated music, literature and art of all kinds, possessing a myriad of general trivia knowledge. He relished in all things unusual with a penchant for zany comedy horror films. His gentle, kind spirit led him to make friends wherever he went - never demanding or expecting more than they could offer. He demonstrated his love and friendship with thoughtfulness and generosity. Jon found joy in life’s simple pleasures and wonder in the beauty of the world around with a particular fondness for all things furry. He will be missed.

We are grateful for his good friends in Colorado who shared him with us these past couple of years. May he be received by his Creator in peace and love. May he be remembered with kindness and compassion.
