Obituary of Jimmie William Pittman

Jimmie William Pittman, 82, passed away at home on Monday, February 28, 2022. He was born in Glasgow, KY on May 2, 1939 to the late Sylvester Lee and Flossie Ann Anderson Pittman. Jimmie was married to his wife, Phyllis Ann Rucker Pittman for 48 years. Jimmie attended South Fork School in Lincoln County and received his GED at age 52.. He lived in many places throughout his life including Harlan County, Madison County, Estill County, a while in Springfield, before ending up in Lawrenceburg. Jimmie retired from Rand McNalley after 34 years and began working at Keenland seasonally for about 10 years. Jimmie was a member at the South Fork Baptist Church. He loved his dog, Harvey. Jimmie enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, playing pool at Jim’s Pool Room, and watching Nascar. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Phyllis Pittman; children, Mona Pittman (Sherrie Robinson), Debbie Pittman and Katrina Pittman (Darrell); numerous grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; special grand-daughter, Sophia Winchell; and special friends, Carol and Ray Hall. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Lee and Flossie Ann Anderson Pittman; son, Jimmy Lee Pittman; sisters, Mary Carey and Beulah Belle Milburn; and brothers, Earl Lee Pittman and Alfred Pittman. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Saffell House Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.. The Funeral Service will take place the following day, Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 1 p.m., with the Graveside Service following at Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Virgil Lunsford, Nathan Bowman, Jimmy McBrayer, Darrell Campbell, David Rucker, and Tommy Pittman. Honorary Pallbearers are Earl Ray Sims, Ray Sims, Tom Mattingly, Hugh Rucker and Jerry Metts. Arrangements have been entrusted to Saffell House Funeral Home.
