Obituary of James Arvel Helphinstine

James A. Helphinstine (Radar), 75, passed away on April 2, 2021. James was the husband of Judy Taline Brown Helphinstine. Born in Maysville, Kentucky on March 26, 1946, he was the son of Everett Anderson Helphinstine and Ruby Varvel Webster. James was a graduate of Maysville High School and Morehead Sate University. James also lived in Louisville where he taught Geography and World History at PRP, Male and Doss. Later James moved to Frankfort where he enjoyed substitute teaching, he loved being around students. James was a member of the Overland Church of Christ with his family in Lawrenceburg. Family was important to James and he loved spending time with them; he also loved being out on the farm. Everyone that knew James knew that his personality filled the room and he always had everyone laughing. Everyone loved his spontaneity and he loved his life. James is predeceased by his father, Everett Anderson Helphinstine. He is survived by his wife, Judy Helphinstine; mother, Ruby Varvel Webster; daughter, Lynn Lewis; son, Chad Strasburger (Summer); sisters, Vicki Tichenor, Anita Muse and Tammy Ashley; brothers, Dale Helphinstine and Larry Helphinstine; and six grandchildren, McKenzi Taline Lewis, Jackson Curtis Lewis lll, Jamisen Chaz Lewis, Grayson Hope Strasburger, R. Wyatt Strasburger, and Jake Wood Strasburger. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Saffell House Funeral Home.
